The 3 Phases of Tar Pit Yoga Recovery
In Phase 1, you learned the psychological and autonomic origins of your discomfort. In Phase 2, you reduced anxiety and ceased medical doctor shopping. Phase 3 is the physical victory lap: returning to all normal activities without restriction.
1. Abandon Protective Equipment
Gradually discard wrist braces, lumbar support cushions, and specialized gadgets. Every piece of protective gear sends a subtle message to your brain: "My body is defective." Rebuilding real confidence requires showing your subconscious that your tissues do not need armor.
2. Reintroduce Vigorous Somatic Movement
Return to running, typing, lifting, and yoga without checking for pain. If symptoms flare, do not stop or rest in panic. Acknowledge the sensation calmly, remind yourself that oxygen is flowing, and continue your routine.
3. Desensitize Trigger Environments
If sitting in a particular office chair previously triggered pain, sit in it deliberately while practicing deep abdominal breathing. Extinguish the conditioned reflex.
